Robert was born in January 1939 in Budapest, Hungary. He grew up in Budapest, where he lived with his parents and four brothers. His family was involved in the dairy business, which played a significant role in their lives.

Robert attended school, but when the war started, life for his family and the Jewish community in Hungary changed dramatically.

The atmosphere became increasingly tense, with growing restrictions and persecution affecting their daily lives.

Robert was liberated on January 17, 1945. After the war, he eventually made his way to the United States in 1957, following the Hungarian Revolution, seeking a new beginning far from the traumatic memories of his childhood.
