Nat Shaffir

In 1942, his family was evicted from their farm and transferred to the Sokola Ghetto of Iasi. In June 1943, Nat's father was deported to a forced labor camp on the border between Moldova and Ukraine, where he was forced to lay railroad tracks.

In 1961, Nat immigrated to the United States. He worked in business until his retirement in 2010. In 1970, he got married and had five children and twelve grandchildren.

Currently, Nat volunteers as a docent at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the Traveling Speaking Holocaust Survivors group, speaking to students and law enforcement agents both in the U.S. and internationally.
