Sally Muschel

Fearing for their safety, Sally’s uncle took her to a farm where they hid with a Polish family, passing themselves off as Gentiles to avoid detection.

In 1940, Sally went to Lvov with a cousin, hoping to find safety. Eventually, they were found and taken in by another uncle who lived there. But their stay was short-lived. By June 1940, Sally and her family were forced onto a train that crossed the Ural Mountains into Russia.

In 1943, Sally was sent to an orphanage in Russia, where she spent two and a half years.

In 1944, Sally was finally released from the orphanage and sent to Interior Russia. By 1945, after the war, Sally returned to Poland, where she discovered that no one from her family had lived through the horrors of the war. She was the sole survivor of her family.
